I clicked a paragraph and nothing happened

The page is probably a scan — a picture of text rather than text. Run Recognize Text first; after that the words can be searched and copied. Editing the words of a scanned page is not possible in any PDF editor without retyping them, because there is nothing there to edit.

The font of my edited sentence looks slightly different

PDFs usually embed only the few characters they need from a font, not the whole thing, so the original often cannot be reused for new letters. Washi sets your text in the closest match on your system at the same size, weight and colour. On most documents the difference is invisible; on heavily branded ones it is noticeable.

Acrobat says my signature's identity is unknown

That is expected for a Digital ID you created yourself: it proves the document has not changed since you signed, but no authority vouches for who you are. The recipient can choose to trust your certificate, or you can import an identity (.p12 or .pfx) from a certificate authority or your employer and sign with that.

Why can't I edit a document after it has been signed?

Any change would break the signature, which is what makes it worth having. Save a copy before signing if you expect further changes, or sign last.

A government form shows only “Please wait…”

It is an Adobe XFA form. Only Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader can display those; every other PDF app, including Apple Preview and web browsers, shows that same message. Washi recognises them when you open one and offers to hand it to Acrobat Reader, which is free.

Where are my documents stored?

Wherever you keep them — on your Mac, in Files, in iCloud Drive if that is where you put them. Washi has no storage of its own and no server. See the privacy policy.

Reduce File Size said the document would not get smaller

That is the answer, not a failure. Making a PDF smaller means rebuilding its pages as pictures at a lower resolution, which only helps a document whose pages already are pictures — a scan. A document of real text would lose its selectable text and its sharpness and save you almost nothing, so Washi declines and tells you rather than doing it anyway. Every app that always compresses is doing it to documents that should have been left alone.

Can I select or search the watermark?

No, and that is deliberate. The mark goes into the page as the shapes of its letters, which means nobody who opens the file can select it and press delete, and a search of your document does not stop on the watermark every time. Your document's own text is untouched — the same words in the same places, which is not true of tools that redraw the page to stamp it.

My exported Word file has Persian against the left margin

It should not, and this is worth reporting with the file if it happens. Alignment in a Word document is relative to the paragraph's own direction, so the setting that reads like “right” actually puts a right-to-left paragraph against the left margin. Washi leaves it out for exactly that reason. If your copy of Word still shows it on the left, send the document.

What is the difference between Save as PDF/A and ordinary saving?

PDF/A is the form archives, registries and some government offices require, and the requirement is that the file depends on nothing outside itself. To promise that, Washi rebuilds each page as a picture and puts the words back over it invisibly with its own text recognition — which is how archives do it. The copy stays searchable, but its text is no longer editable, and your original is untouched. A file that merely says PDF/A in its properties is not one; Washi's output is checked against veraPDF, the reference validator.

Reporting a bug

Please include your device, its OS version, the version of Washi from the About window, and what you did just before the problem. If a particular document misbehaves, a page from it — or the whole file if it is not confidential — helps more than anything else.
