Washi
Privacy
Washi does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. It has no account, no analytics, and no networking of any kind — the app cannot send your documents anywhere, because it never connects to anything.

Where your documents live
Wherever you put them. Washi opens the file you choose, edits it in place, and saves it back. It keeps no library of its own, makes no copies on any server, and has nothing to upload to.
If a document is in iCloud Drive, it syncs the way every other file in iCloud Drive does — between your own devices, under your own Apple Account. That is Apple's sync, not ours, and we have no access to it.
Network connections
Washi makes none. There is no licence check, no update check, no feature that calls out to a service, and no analytics. The app works identically with the network switched off, because it never uses it.
The only exception is a link you tap yourself — for example the button that offers to open an Adobe XFA form in Acrobat Reader, or a link to this website. Those hand you to another app in the usual way.
Signatures and Digital IDs
A handwritten-style signature you draw, type or photograph is stored on that device only, in the app's own storage.
A Digital ID creates a private key inside your device's Secure Enclave, or in the system Keychain where an enclave is not available. The key never leaves the device, cannot be exported, and requires Face ID, Touch ID or your device password each time it signs. An imported .p12 or .pfx identity is stored in the Keychain under the same protection.
Your name, and anything you type as a reason or location, are written into the documents you sign — because that is what a signature is. Nothing about them is reported to us.
Text recognition and the camera
Recognition runs entirely on the device, using Apple's Vision framework and a copy of Tesseract built into the app. Page images are never uploaded, and no text is sent anywhere.
Camera access on iPad and iPhone is used only while you are scanning, to turn pages into a PDF.
Photos are read only when you pick them — whether for a signature or to add them to a document as pages — and only the ones you choose. Washi is not given, and does not ask for, access to your photo library as a whole.
What Washi does not do
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
- No third-party SDKs that phone home
- No crash-reporting service
- No account, email address, or password
- No sale or sharing of data, because none is collected
Children
Washi collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be a clarification rather than a reduction in privacy.

Washi uses PDFium (BSD-3-Clause) and Tesseract OCR (Apache-2.0), together with the libraries those two depend on. All of them run on your device, and every licence notice is in the app under Help → Acknowledgements.
