Kilk

Privacy

Kilk does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. It has no account, no analytics, and no networking of any kind. The app cannot send your files anywhere, because it never connects to anything.

Where your files live

Wherever you put them. Kilk opens the file you choose, and saves it back to the same place or wherever you save it. It keeps no library of its own and has no server to upload to.

If a file is in iCloud Drive or another synced folder, it syncs the way every other file there does, between your own devices and under your own account. That is Apple's or your provider's sync, not ours, and we have no access to it.

What Kilk keeps on your Mac

Kilk stores a few things for its own use, inside the app's private storage on your Mac:

- Settings: font size, spaces per tab, and theme.

- Your last session: a list of the files you had open, so they reopen next time. macOS requires this to be stored as a secure bookmark to each file.

- Recovery copies: while a document has unsaved changes, Kilk keeps a copy of its text every few seconds so it can be restored if the app stops unexpectedly. A normal quit deletes these copies.

None of this leaves your Mac, and deleting Kilk removes it.

Network connections

Kilk makes none. There is no licence check, no update check, no feature that calls out to a service, and no analytics. The app works identically with the network switched off, because it never uses it. Updates come through the Mac App Store, the same as for any other app.

The only exception is a link you click yourself, such as Help > Kilk Website or Contact Support. Those open your browser or mail app in the usual way.

What Kilk does not do

- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind

- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers

- No third-party SDKs that phone home

- No crash-reporting service

- No account, email address, or password

- No sale or sharing of data, because none is collected

Children

Kilk collects no information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be a clarification rather than a reduction in privacy.
