Corante
Privacy
Corante does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. There is no account to create, no analytics, and no server operated by the developer that your data passes through.

What Corante stores, and where
Your subscriptions, folders, read and starred state, and app settings are stored in your own private iCloud database, using Apple's CloudKit. This storage belongs to your Apple Account. The developer cannot read it, and neither can Apple. It counts against your personal iCloud storage, not against any account of ours.
Article text, images, and cached full-text extractions are stored only on the device that downloaded them. They are never uploaded anywhere.
If you are not signed in to iCloud, Corante works entirely on the device and simply does not sync.
Network connections
Corante connects directly to the websites you subscribe to, and to no one else. There is no proxy, relay, or intermediary server. A publisher whose feed you read sees an ordinary web request from your own IP address, the same as if you had visited their site in a browser.
Requests identify the app and its version. They contain no identifier for you or your device.
Searching for a publication by name
Corante includes a list of well-known publications inside the app, and can also guess a website address from a name. Both work entirely on your device.
If neither finds what you asked for, Corante can send your search terms to an online feed directory. This is switched off until you turn it on, and the app explains what it does before you do. When it is on, that service receives only the words you typed — no identifier, no device information, and nothing about the feeds you already follow. Its own privacy practices apply to those search terms.
You can turn it off again at any time in Settings.
What Corante does not do
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
- No third-party SDKs
- No crash-reporting service
- No account, email address, or password
- No sale or sharing of data, because none is collected
Reading articles
When you open an article, Corante renders it with JavaScript disabled and with a non-persistent web data store. This blocks analytics scripts, tracking pixels, and fingerprinting, and ensures no cookies a publisher sets survive closing the article.
Images in articles are loaded from the publisher's servers, which makes those servers aware of the request. You can turn off image loading in Settings if you prefer.
Opening an article in Safari, or tapping a link inside one, hands you over to that website, which has its own privacy practices.
Children
Corante collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be a clarification rather than a reduction in privacy.
