The one-sentence version. Meowdy contains no networking code whatsoever. There is nothing in the app capable of sending information anywhere, which means there is no data collection to disclose, no third party to name, and nothing for us to retain, lose, or be asked to hand over.
Introduction
Oxin Studio Inc. (“Oxin Studio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, makes Meowdy. Meowdy is a toy for children that turns cat sounds into silly sentences.
This policy covers the Meowdy app specifically. It is short because there is very little to describe: the app collects nothing, transmits nothing, and has no server behind it.
Information we collect
None.
We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no email address requested, and no analytics or advertising software of any kind included in the app. Meowdy’s App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected in every category.
The microphone
Meowdy uses the microphone for its main feature: listening to a cat, and listening to you when you talk to your cat.
Audio is held in the device’s memory only for the moment it takes to analyse it — typically well under a second — and is then discarded. It is never written to storage, never added to your photo library or files, and never transmitted. There is no recording feature and no way to play back or export anything the microphone heard.
Speech recognition
If you switch on Understand what you say, Meowdy uses Apple’s speech recognition to work out which words were spoken, so the cat can respond to the subject rather than only to your tone of voice.
This runs entirely on the device. Meowdy requires on-device recognition and will not fall back to network-based recognition under any circumstances. On a device or in a language where offline recognition is unavailable, the feature simply reports itself unavailable and the app uses tone of voice instead. Speech is never sent to Apple, to us, or to anyone else.
The feature is optional. It can be declined when the permission is requested, or turned off at any time in Settings inside the app.
Information stored on the device
Meowdy saves a small amount of information locally so the app remembers itself between launches:

The diary holds text only — the made-up sentence, the mood it was sorted into, the date, and three numbers describing the pitch and length of the meow. It contains no audio. The recording was discarded the moment it was analysed.
All of this stays on the device, is never transmitted, and is removed when the app is deleted. The diary can be cleared from inside it at any time, and everything can be cleared with Start over in Settings.
Cookies and analytics
Not applicable. Meowdy is not a web application, contains no web views, and includes no analytics or cookie technology.
Third-party services
There are none. No advertising networks, no analytics providers, no crash-reporting services, no cloud storage, no social login.
Meowdy includes cat sound recordings licensed from third-party audio libraries. These are ordinary audio files bundled inside the app; they do not collect or transmit anything.
Meowdy is distributed through Apple’s App Store. Apple may collect information about downloads under its own policies, which we neither control nor receive. The app is free and contains no purchases, so no payment information exists.
Data retention
We hold no personal information about you, so there is nothing for us to retain. Anything stored on your own device is kept until you clear it or delete the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information a company holds about you. Because Meowdy collects nothing and we operate no server, we hold no personal information to give you, correct, or erase.
If you contact us by email we will of course have that email, and you can ask us to delete that correspondence at any time.
Children’s privacy
Meowdy is designed to be used by children. That is the point of it, and it is why the app was built to collect nothing at all — rather than to collect a little and promise to be careful with it.
Because no personal information is collected from anyone, none is collected from children. There is nothing to obtain verifiable parental consent for, nothing disclosed to third parties, and nothing retained.
Specifically, Meowdy contains:
- No advertising of any kind, including contextual advertising
- No analytics, attribution, or tracking software
- No in-app purchases and nothing to buy
- No account creation, chat, messaging, user-generated content, or social features
- No links out of the app to a web browser or other applications
- No location access, contacts access, photo library access, or camera access
The microphone is the only sensitive permission the app requests, and audio never leaves the device. Parents can check this claim directly: switch the device to Airplane Mode and use Meowdy normally. Its behaviour is identical, because it never needed a connection.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of Meowdy ever collects anything, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the app will ask for consent. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.

Every claim above is verifiable rather than asserted. Meowdy’s source contains no reference to URLSession, URLRequest, NSURLConnection, or any other networking interface, so no outbound connection is ever made. The simplest test is the one described above: turn on Airplane Mode and nothing changes.
